O "gato" de Madeleine

In one photo Maddie's favourite toy - cuddle cat - can be seen on the bed she was sleeping in before she went missing.

According to a report below, Kate washed Cuddle Cat 5 days after Madeleine's disappearance and water destroys DNA.

Kate washed the Cuddle Cat five days after Madeleine went missing saying it was smeared with sand and sun cream.

A former Scotland Yard detective said: "It's the last thing I'd expect a mother who is devastated at losing her child to do."

Kates reply to the question why did Cuddle Cat have the scent of death on him was that she took him to work. Why? Does he diagnose the patients? Does he examine corpses and write out death certificates? Is it sane for a 39 year old woman to take her childs favorite toy to work?

For the same reason your questions smell strongly of bull sh*t.

There is NO way that I’d let any of my child’s soft toys anywhere near clients! It’s not hygenic! The only things I take to work are my lunch and a magazine! My kid’s toys stay in their bedroom!
The woman isn’t telling the truth is she?
Just like she says that she wore her holiday clothes to work……..yeah, right. Like a GP visits patients looking like a casual! I don’t think so :-/

One day you’ll ask a sensible question without adding a stupid bit at the end.
Unfortunately by then we will all have died of boredom.

The woman is a lunatic.. as well as a liar.
Why would she take a toy to work when she has the opportunity to see her kid every day [before she supposedly went missing]. So in essence she deprived her child of her toy so she coud take it to work to.. as you say "diagnose the patients and examine corpses" -lol
Exactly how many corpses did Kate McCann come across working behind a desk in her GP surgery?

I thought she was a part-time GP, not a mortician. A normal GP’s surgery doesn’t smell of death (unless the GP is Harold Shipman).

If it’s her daughter’s favourite toy it should be with Maddie and not with her mother. That explanation doesn’t make any sense.

Omg that’s just crazy. That can’t be true, why would anyone take their child’s favourite toy to work?
And especially carry it around when working with corpses and just hand it back to the child, smelling of death without at least cleaning it!
Yeah I really don’t believe that’s how it got the scent of death of it….

She is mental, but any woman who abandons her 3 children to have a nice meal at the pub has gotta be mental? there is no way in the world i would leave my kids unattended.
Is there anything yet on social services being involved yet? it is a complete injustice if they don’t, they are supposed to protect children from abuse, and this is clearly a case of abuse and neglect. (if not a lot more)
Well put mr jt and andrew l

I have followed this story by way of all you question and answerers here….and this story keeps getting weirder and weirder by the day!!!
You don’t take your child’s favorite toy around dying or dead people then bring it home to the child, that is just insane!

Maybe Cuddle Cat has his degree in nursing and we don’t know it yet.
I just do not want to believe these people did anything bad to their child. It’s too horrific and makes me very sad.

Closest link I could find to the question about the cat, not being in spanish. If she did say she took it to work with her….please, wth for? It seems she didn’t wash her clothes for a few months either with the smell of dead body on them….God lord.
Aren’t most bodies kept in moargues when doctors see them? if it was just a patient that she pronounced dead, they wouldn’t have started to decompose yet, no?

Kate should have said "Maddie drooled on it alot". The smell of death is putrescine and cadaverine which are also the compounds that cause halitosis.
Kate messed it up though by saying she took it to work.
What on Earth for?!?! Does she do a puppet show during the diagnosis of death?
"Dr Cuddle Cat says, you’re going to die" in a teletubby voice?
edit: to the poster above, thanks for the link.

It was reported that the dog had detected the smell of a corpse on Kate’s clothes, tee shirt and jeans, and on Cuddle Cat. Kate is reported as having explained this by saying that she’d had contact with at least 6 dead bodies in the period before the holiday, and that as she had carried the toy around since Madeleine’s disappearance it may have picked up the scent from the clothes. She did not say she took the toy to work.
However I rather doubt she wore tee shirts and jeans to her surgery. And as she only worked 1.5 days a week as a GP I sincerely hope she didn’t have to deal with 6 dead bodies in a short time before the holidays. That would be a very high rate of death for most surgeries.
Also I don’t know for sure but I wonder if any smell would survive the washing machine.

I am just about to start my day at work and that Shambo has made me laugh!. If she thinks the authorities will fall for that one then she is sadder than I thought.

Hang on a tick Shambo, Kate has not been to work since Madeleine disappeared so how could Cuddle Cat smell of death from patients? Plus I am not sure but it has been suggested by presumably Kate that the traces of blood in the car could have been contaminated by said Cuddle Cat! Presumably Cuddle Cat is trying to frame Kate for something. Is he the undercover Portuguese Agent from the Police Department!
