Zahra Baker e Lee Balkwell

Lee Balkwell

"Welcome to my website and here's the first document I'm uploading.

It's an important one.

It shows the terms of reference for the current so-called 'independent' review of my son's death by Detective Superintendent 'Dave' Mirfield of West Midlands Police. Here's the background to this. In June 2009, 19 months after I first submitted a dossier of over 100 complaints of misconduct against current or former serving Essex Police Officers to the Independent Complaints Commission (IPCC), Rachel Cerfontyne, one of the Commissioners, approved a report by IPCC Senior Investigator Amanda Rowe. Crucially, it found that the original investigation into my son's death by Detective Superintendent Graeme Bull was 'seriously flawed'.

I've known that for 7 years. But at last an official body has agreed with me, and I'm very grateful to Amanda and her team for that. The IPCC demanded that Essex Police immediately appoint an outside force to re-investigate my son's death.Guess what happened next?....."

Lee Balkwell was a 33-year-old man who died in mysterious circumstances at Baldwin's Farm, Dennises Lane, Upminster, in the early hours of 18 July 2002. As of 3 June 2007, the inquest in the case has yet to be heard. It is due to be heard in October by Caroline Beasley-Murray, the same Coroner who returned an 'open verdict' in 2002 in the case of Stuart Lubbock, the 31-year-old found dead at Michael Barrymore's home in March 2001.
